2011

As many of you know, my husband has a problem... he drinks WAYYYY to much soda.. his favorites include Diet Coke and Pepsi Max. I mean it has gotten to the point now that he is actually grumpy if he doesn't have like 8 cans a day! So, he promised me (and himself) that beginning tomorrow 1/1/11.. he will completely stop the bad habit.. not one sip.. nothing! haha, I know he CAN do it, I just don't think he will do it, therefore we have a small bet going on. If he even takes one sip of soda in the first month, soda of any kind, I get to spend $100 on anything I want :) Although I want him to succeed, I really want these new shoes... haha, I'll let you know how it goes!

Christmas for Fae

little Fae didn't get much for Christmas this year, (and I also figured she was too young to really want anything besides some new bottles and formula anyway haha)but neither did we... I decided to take a "rain check" so I could buy some new clothes after I loose the baby weight..which by the way is coming off nicely :) I hope I make my goal!!! and Jarom couldn't think of anything he wanted either so... I got him a couple new pieces of clothing, and boots. I think he wants to buy a knife or something so we will probably do that sometime soon. But anyway, we had a great time over at Jarom's parents house, they always have such a beautifully decorated house and wonderful food! This year we had prime rib, lobster, and potatoes.. it was SO good! They are always so thoughtful and generous when it comes to gift giving, and got us some new luggage,, which we DESPERATELY needed, new sheets and some food storage! We love everything!

Anyway, here is little Fae Christmas morning, she must have been so excited for Santa that she woke up at like 6 but then fell back to sleep a few hours later haha...

Either way, we had a great christmas, and hope you all did too!!

It was so awesome to be a little family this year for christmas... Fae is such a joy in our lives, she challenges us and teaches us so many things!! (especially patience) we love her more than words can even say, shes so beautiful and sweet and happy! We are so lucky to have such a perfect, sweet, cute little girl!!

On another note, here are some other cute pictures:

This is sleepy Fae

This is over-alls Fae.. but really its just her pretty smile while shes playing with her little animal friends :)

And this is Snowman Fae haha... we didn't build it, but it was nice one day last week so we went for a walk, and my mom INSISTED we get a picture of her with the snowman.. but I refused to take her out of her car seat.

This is Fae after her bath and not liking being naked and cold, but mommy loving every second of it :)

The race is on...

Ok, it's not really a race if the only competitor is myself.. but it kinda is because I want to do it before we leave for NY on January 13th. Some people say it can't be done, but I am telling you, I've done it before, and I'll do it again.. so here goes...

I am going to turn this: (no, I will not show you my flabby stomach, however I will wear an extremely tight tank-top so you can see what I'm working with)

Into this:

How many days do I have to do this? 40 days starting today.

Goal weight: 105 lbs.
Current weight: 120lbs

This is what we fight about:

Every night while I'm up with Fae.. well more like 4 in the morning when I wake her up to eat, I turn the heat up.. because the night before jarom has turned it down. He claims he is "way too hot to sleep" even though I have the heat at 70. He turns it back down to 65, and thinks I wont notice, but here he is, caught red handed..

And this:

Is what he did.

Happiness

Happiness is when your baby sleeps through the night for about 2 weeks straight, and wakes up like this:

I captured this pic right as she was about to stop smiling, but it is hard to make her smile and take a picture at the same time, so give me some credit!!

The happiest baby on the block

This book is great, I recommend it to any expectant parents, or parents of a newborn baby. It has helped me so much the past few days (since I got it)to understand both why babies cry, and how to make them stop. When Fae was born, she was a perfect little angel for about a week, and once that week was over she began to be very colicky. Nothing we did would help her to stop crying. I took her to the doctor and they told me "well shes just a fussy baby, maybe she has gas, don't worry it will be over in about 3 months." OK three months is nuts.. (as I've said in previous posts) But this book is awesome! I've learned so much and although its been taking time and a lot of effort, I can pretty much clam Fae no matter what within minutes. I no longer believe that colicky babies cry for no reason, although it may seem that way (as it did for me)PLEASE PLEASE read and reread this book! It's great! and I'm so thankful for it!!

Thank you mom for buying it for me! And although the techniques take time to learn, once they are mastered (which I am still trying to do) they work miracles... yes Fae still cries, but for hours? no, not really... maybe 20 minutes here and there..
NOTE: I've had the book for a while, but the techniques take time to learn.. for both you and your baby, so be patient and keep practicing!!

being a mom is hard.

My little girl can be the sweetest baby in the whole world, she will look at you with her big blue eyes and you just melt, however she can also be the biggest BEAST you've ever known! Some nights she will just cry and scream for hours, 6 hours or so to be more exact. The second night she did this I took her to the doctor because I thought maybe she had an ear infection or something, but no, the doctor told me " It's just one of those things, shes a little gassy but she is just a fussy baby, don't worry it will go away around 3 to 4 months." 3 to 4 MONTHS! was he insane, seriously I got like 1 hour of sleep that night and I wasn't prepared to do it again! But it happened again, and then again.. finally I tried something new. I stopped eating dairy, no milk, cheese, eggs, nothing. It's been so hard, but it has helped SO much, she no longer screams or cries all frantic like, just fusses sometimes but for the most part she is great! Of course she cries like any normal baby just not like she used to. This brings me to my next problem, she takes about 2 hours to nurse, she continually falls asleep so I am having to wake her up every 5 min, and not only that she doesn't get enough milk! I don't know if it's me or her, but I pump and pump to try to stimulate more milk but I never get any more.. so today we tried formula. It's a special formula for sensitive babies.. Lactose free :) we gave it to her at 4:30 this morning then again at 8! She hasn't complained, and by that I mean no crying, gas, or fussiness.. just a happy healthy baby! I am still planning to give her breast milk at night.. so I'm pumping when I have time during the day.. hopefully this system works out because I can't take many more nights of a screaming baby!

haha, she thinks the bath tub is her personal spa... she seriously lays like this the whole time like shes in "Awe" of whats going on.. and jarom likes to take baths with her.. don't worry I make him wear his bathing suit..

oh my gosh...

THIS FACE! ah! it's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my whole life I think! haha and even though she likes to cry a lot and throws up a ton and poops through three outfits a day, this face makes me melt! I love her squishy cheeks and her big blue eyes and her stick-out ears, oh my gosh I'm in heaven when I look at her!

haha I know it looks like one of her eyes is like a totally different shape than the other, but it must be the picture because she doesn't look like that normally haha :) LOVE HER!

Happy Halloween... and some other stuff

The weather has been pretty nice lately, so my mom has been taking Fae on walks with her in the morning, I went once, but usually when they go, I go back to sleep, or take a shower... however, this is a picture of little Fae loving her stroller, and being outside :)

We walked around the green belt... because my mom insisted on seeing the Temple.. it was actually freezing that day.. and since it was Saturday, we hit up the farmers market first but we didn't get anything.

Jarom and my mom sitting on the horse bench, I swear it's new, I've never seen it before.

Me and my mother :) I'm so sad she is leaving tomorrow, I don't know what I am going to do with out her, it's been so awesome for her to be here, and so unfair that she doesn't live close. I'm going to miss her so much :(

On Friday night my mom watched Fae so we could go to a Masquerade Party at JArom's brother's house. It was so fun, and I'm glad we went, even if my motherly instincts missed little Fae... I wasn't too worried though cuz I know how much my mom loves her!

Jarom and I got all "dressed up" for the party, this is us looking our parts: (I was supposed to be an astronaut genious who thinks she knows everthing, and Jarom was supposed to be a radio disc jockey... neither one of us were the murderers, so that's good haha, although I kinda wished I was)

THEN (this post is out of order) we went to the park and took pictures of Fae because I got her a pumpkin onsie and it was funny.. she looked like a little boy, but we still think shes the cutest!!!!!!

Furthermore, my grandma and grandpa Selin came to Idaho! they actually came!!! so we got to go out to lunch with them.. it was soo good, we went to Famous Daves.

Me and grandma :)

These two are just cute hehe We just can't stand how cute our little girlie is, we love her so much! (Even when she cries for 2 hours straight at 3 in the morning)

Things We have been up to:

Ok, here are some real updates:

First of all, my mom is here! I love my mom, I haven't seen her in over a year until she came on the 14th! Fae was due on the 14th and since first babies (well all babies) are unpredictable, we decided that coming on the due date was the safest bet. However, exactly one week early (on my mom's birthday no less) little Fae decided to grace us with her presence! I was soooo happy that she decided to come early, I felt like a beached whale. I thought about telling the birth story here on my blog but, I think I don't really want to talk about it, most people know what happens in a birth, so lets just leave it at that.. I've been hearing way too much about effacement, dilation, bloody show etc that I don't want to write any more about it. So, to continue on, we spent the first week on our own, I wasn't as nervous as I though I'd be, but I was a little bit more emotional than normal and cried for like 2 hours when they told me little Fae had jaundice, which is totally a normal thing for infants to have. And then I cried again when the jaundice got worse and she had to be on a biliblanket. But she only had to be on the blanket for 3 days and she actually liked it, it kept her super warm and it was nice to be able to sleep for a little bit longer.

Anyway, as soon as that was all cleared up I was able to work more on nursing, and I think we have it down pretty good now. I know, most of you are probably thinking "she said she didn't even want to TRY to nurse" this is true, but I didn't like the way the bottles smelled and I felt like they gave her a stomach ache, so I decided to try to nurse and I love it! However, I don't think I'll be in it for the long haul... 6 months max I think.

I'm sure I should write more, but I'd rather just put up some pictures:

My mom and little Fae Princess

Peaceful one minute...

beastly the next!! ahh shes so cute we love her :)

Her first bathy at home.. she liked it until we took her out and she got cold, one thing this girl hates, is to be cold. It's like I don't like being cold either but I don't freak out like she does haha... shes so cool.

haha, she look pretty unsure of what to do right now..

Oh geeze, my face is still fat, that's OK its only been 2 weeks.. give me a break! haha but this little girl is totally a Mommy's girl and I love it! (for now) haha

But, she TOTALLY loves her daddy... haha they just like to hang out together after long hard days of eating, sleeping and pooping.. well in Fae's case that is...

photo shoot

Hello!!! It's been a little bit since I posted last, so I thought I would go ahead and post some pictures!

Today we went to Fae's 2 week check up, and the doctor said she looks great! She weighs 6 lbs and 14 oz! which is a lot considering when she was born she was 6.6 and then went down to 6.1! Shes a pretty big eater and when shes hungry she gets so frantic, like she will never eat again! It's actually pretty cute, well pretty much everything she does is cute :) We love our little girl so much she is such a joy to have in our home!

There are a bunch more pictures, but I don't want to spoil the surprise of my baby announcements!!
